My Kryptonite

Hi my name is Brandy and my fiance is Donald Fitzgerald. As most of you know Donald has been dubbed "Superman" and for good reason. Donald was diagnosed with ALL (leukemia) when he was 13 years old and relapsed when he was 18. He was cured of this cancer and has gone almost 13 years cancer free. During this time, he has undergone 2 hip replacements and a partial shoulder replacement due to the high doses of steroids he had to take. Then, on March 24th 2011, 3 months after his 32nd birthday, we got the devastating news that the cancer had come back. We are now at UMC about to undergo the long process of Chemo once again. He will have to stay in the hospital for a minimum of 30 days for the initial treatment. He is strong and will beat this once again but we need everyone's prayers. God is in control and there is nothing out of his hands. As someone posted once on facebook "The deals not done until God's done dealing".

A message from the man in "Blue and Red" tights himself...

Hello everyone.  This blog coming at you from Donald himself.  This is day four of my projected 30 day introductory phase of my chemo protocol.  I just received my chemo for today and so far I'm tolerating it very well.  I haven't yet begun to loose my "beautiful curls" as Brandy would say. HeHe.....  My spirits are high and my platelets are low.  And I don't know if it's the medication or the boxes of Twinkies and  Krispy Kreams but, for some reason my blood sugar is SLIGHTLY elevated!  I think I've got more radiation in my urinal than they have over in Japan right now. Brandy say's it smells like kitchen cleaner. LOL!!! On a more serious note. I miss everyone. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and visitations. Can't wait to be home......

  1. Donald, you should be telling all the doctors and nurses that “I’ve been there, done that”. I’m sure you could teach them a thing or two. After all this you could either have only a little more studying to do to become a doctor or at least a nurse. And you’d be a good one too, ‘cause you’re ‘Superman2001’!

We love you, Donald, and are keeping you in our prayers. Keep that positive attitude because God is our strength and He will be there with you always.

    Love,

    Dana

  2. Hey Uncle Donald, we are here following you in Little Rock, so keep us posted! I certainly did not want to hear that you are feeling bad... but we know that even Superman had to rely on his family and friends to get through the tough spots, get rid of the kryponite, send another box of twinkies up... LOL! You are TOO Sweet! We Love You and will be here ANYTIME you need us. Just a text, facebook, email, or phone call away. And we will be praying for you and mom and dad too. Let me know if you guys need anything. I am not that far away...

    Luv U!!
Christine, Lizzie, Sally, Wayne & PeeWee!
